Markets reverse losing streak amid high volatility
The Indian bourses opened marginally higher at 16,317.16 - up 28 points. points - mirroring positive cues from the global markets. The US markets ended on a positive note after the US Federal Reserve said that the conditions in the world"s largest economy are showing signs of improvement. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.4 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 0.8 per cent, respectively. The Asian stocks too started on a strong note however pared some gains towards end of the day. The Hang Seng was up 1.61 percent and the Nikkei added 1.5 per cent, respectively.

Sensex hits 22-month high; mid-, small-caps shine
It was a classic case of the davids of the world outpacing the goliaths. While the Sensex touched a 22-month high of 17338 in the earlier part of the week, only to turn sideways, the broader indices were the outperformers of the week. The mid-cap sector appreciated by 3.4% and the BSE small-cap space gained 4%.

HCL Infosystems Q2 net down 11% to Rs 59 cr

The company said there was a decline in net profit due to a slowdown in demand. Further, the board has declared an interim dividend of 75 per cent at the rate of Rs 1.5 a piece, on shares of face value of Rs 2. Shares of HCL Infosystems closed at Rs 157.70, down 0.79 per cent over the previous close on the BSE.
